Pranayama refers to the control of the breath with the purpose of calming the mind. Pranayama and Meditation class begins with slow, gentle stretching and breathing exercises and ends with 15 minuntes of meditation.
About the Instructor:
I am an experienced Yoga teacher with a wealth of various trainings, leading classes with combined influences of Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga, in Tokyo for the past 3 years. This yoga, when practiced with regularity, provokes the realization of ones full physical, psychological, and spiritual potential. The student begins to recognize a steadiness in thought as well as an overall improved energy level. This calming of the senses and clarity of mind is acquired through the continued focus on postures, controlled breathing, and gazing points for each posture.
I began training five years ago under a teacher whose style focused on a form of Ashtanga Yoga. She studied under many outstanding teachers in the field such as Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, Seane Corn, Rodney Yee, Ana Forrest, and Bobbie Fultz among others. Her style was vigorous with focus on synchronizing movement with breath. I was instantly attracted to the demanding nature of her teachings. With consistent practice I noticed an improvement in my own mental health, creativity, and energy levels. As I gained more experience and self-understanding, the more interest I had in sharing with others the teachings and practices that lead to the strength that I have gained.
